The last two days had me stationed in Bangalore attending almost back to back meetings. While heading to one of the meeting, I chanced upon a rows of brand new cars stationed on the curb next to a small temple. Not just any cars. I’m talking about Octavias, Civics, Mercs along with the Santros and Swifts. Most of them adorned with rose and jasmine garlands. I accosted a guy whowas obviously beaming with pride having become the new owner of a brand new red wine colored Skoda. He told me that this small temple wards off evil eye and brings goodluck to new cars and its owners. Ah! That explains the RTO Ganesha name. In Madras, there’s a similar deity called ‘Bodyguard Saami’ where the new car owners queue up to.
