Anything Google interests me a lot. So when Mahesh from K9 told me about Orkut, I went on a net research rampage. Lucky guy, this Orkut Buyukkokten, to get the site named after him. Hey, I thought only comets were named after their discoverers!

Apparently, Google tried hard last year to buy Friendster but failed. Hence a possible ‘behind-the-screen’ support for Orkut.com from Google. I mean, why pay millions to buy a site when you can coax an ex-employee to get the stuff done for you.

Did you know that Google employees are allowed to spend 20% of their time in office pursuing personal interests. Cool, eh?
