Paying For Drinking Water
Everytime I see the guy bring water cans to our home, I always feel frustrated. Frustrated for having to pay for drinking water, something that’s considered a basic right.
Yesterday, I visited our ancestral village where I spent my childhood. There are no water cans there. You could drink straight off the tap. The ground water is still sweet, the way I remember it to be.
Back in the city, there’s a water cartel. You end with no choice. The ‘metro water’ is hardly drinking quality. Boiling water consumes cooking gas and the taste is aweful. We’ve tried those Zero-Bs but gave up. So, what are we left with? Those water cans whose sight I can’t stand.
What’s next? Paying for breathing air?
