Wikimedia Chapter is holding a\u00a0seminar on Copyright and Open licensing on\u00a030 July 2011 from\u00a05PM to 8PM at\u00a0TERI Auditorium, Domlur, Bangalore. That\u2019s just great, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p>Wikimedia Chapter is a not for profit Society in\u00a0Bangalore Urban District with the objective of educating Indian public about availability and use of free and open educational content and build capacity to access and contribute to such resources in various Indian languages. It has over 64 members who are passionate about Wikipedia and sister projects from all over India and representing several Indian languages.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar will start off with the introduction of Wikimedia Chapter\u00a0followed by the speaker, Gautam, Secretary, Wikimedia Chapter. Later Sudhir\u00a0Krishnaswamy, Azim Premji University, will speak on Copyright law and plagiarism, while\u00a0Pranesh Prakash, Centre for Internet and Society, proceeds with his speech on Indian copyright law and the Commons.<\/p>\n<p>The series of informative sessions by eminent speakers is followed by a tea break and the sessions continues with a speech on\u00a0Open licensing and Creative Commons by Danish\u00a0Sheikh: Alternative Law Forum.<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of this seminar is to\u00a0educate attendees about Copyrights and Open licensing, Wikimedia\u00a0copyright policies and how one can become a better contributor to\u00a0Wikimedia projects.<\/p>\n<p>If you are thinking about registering for the event here is what you should do.\u00a0Free on first come first served.
