Do a Standup Comedy Gig.
For a guy who is a professional speaker and the President of the Professional Speakers Association of India, you would think I love the stage. You are right.
You would think I have the gift of gab. You are right again.
You would think standup is another form of speaking and it would be easy for me. You are wrong. So wrong.
Truth be told, I’m scared. Scared of my jokes falling flat.
I know for certain one of the important hallmarks of a professional speaker is humour. There is this interesting conversation that nails it.
A person asked a professional speaker, “Do you think humour is important for a speaker? And he replied, “Only if you want to get paid”
I know that I need to improve my humour quotient. And one good way to do that is to expose me to standup comedy.
In 2020, I intend to break the self-imposed glass ceiling. Not to become a standup comedian. But to become a good speaker with a good sense of humour.
