Badri Seshadri, Co-founder, CricInfo – Part 1

This is Part 1 of the interview with Badri Seshadri, Co-founder , CricInfo.

Badri Seshadri graduated with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras in 1991 and a Ph.D from Cornell University in 1996.

He co-founded Cricinfo, a cricket website along with several others, and was one of the founding Directors of Cricinfo Ltd. in 1996, when it was incorporated as a company. Badri managed Cricinfo in India during 1996-99, functioned as Chief Operations Officer in UK in 1999-2000, worked as Director Commercial in India in 2001 and as Managing Director of the India operations and Chief Technology Officer between 2002-04. During 2004-05 he managed the mobile strategy for Cricinfo.

Badri is the Managing Director of New Horizon Media Private Limited. He maintains blogs in Tamil and English. He has contributed articles to Tamil magazines and ezines on Information Technology issues.

Dr.Pawan Agrawal, PhD in Mumbai Dabbawallas – Part 2

Here’s Part 2 of the conversation with Dr.Pawal Agrawal who plays a role as spokesperson for Mumbai Dabbawallas.

Dr.Pawan Agrawal has completed his Ph.D thesis on the title, ‘A study of Logistics and Supply Chain Management of Dabbawala in Mumbai’. He has traveled worldwide spreading awareness about the Mumbai Dabbawalas. He has delivered lectures in Paris, Netherlands, US, UK and at management institutions all over India.

The Mumbai Dabbawallas are international figures now thanks to Forbes Global. The Forbes story details the efficiency which with they deliver the tiffins of their customers. Around 5000 dabbawallas deliver 175,000 lunches everyday and take the empty tiffin back. They make one mistake in 2 months. This means there is one error on every 16 million transactions. This is thus a six sigma performance (a term used in quality assurance if the percentage of correctness is 99.999999) – the performance which has made companies like Motorola and GE world famous for their quality.

This Web portal was started in year 2007, at present he is receiving 40000 applications per month. More than 10000 companies in the United States use this portal for hiring people.
He was interested in working with online web ventures that are focusing on technology based solutions
