The first Facebook Developer Garage in Chennai takes place today (March 15th) at 2PM. Its a community event in an unconference mode where we get a chance to explore, get gritty, tinker, experiment, and test out ideas for Facebook Platform. The idea is to get our hands dirty, and explore fresh ideas and solutions.
The event is not just for hardcore techies but also for business folks who would like to know how to leverage social networks effectively. Social Networks can be potent tools for building online communities, PR, brand building, talent scouting & recruitment amongst others.
Thomas Jestin, who is the winner of the Facebook App Contest will be demoing his app. Philip Urech, a Swiss national, will present his experience on how United Nations used Facebook and social networks in their Nuclear Disarmament campaign.

The last logo was also very good. I think the first one represents Chennai railway station, but how many can recognise it?
Sounds exciting!!
Should have read this earlier. Missed it.
This sounds really very exciting. Keep up the work. Proud to be reading your site.
hi, it is nice to go through ur blog…and it is well informative too…by the way why don’t you start a blog in your own mother tongue…? as i know it is not a big task….
recently i was searching for the user friendly Indian language typing tool and found .. ” quillpad”. heard that it is much more superior than the Google’s indic transliteration…!? It gives you the option of Rich Text as well as 9 Indian languages…whereas Google is providing only 5 languages and no Rich text option…
It is indeed a pleasure as well as proud moment to express our views in our own mother tongue…and it is our duty too….. so, save, protect, popularize and communicate in our own mother tongue….
try this, http://www.quillpad.in

the logos r pretty neat. clean and bright colors. and graphically precise as well. u cud’ve also tried out graphics of the senate house on beach road, or maybe even the MGR memorial on the opposite side.
the thing about making chennai-centric logos is, the collective memory of an average indian for chennai city is hardly a monument, or a public institution… it’s idli-sambhar! which ticks me off immensely. if cal has the victoria memorial and the howrah bridge; and if the gateway of india means bombay; perhaps if vidhan saudha means bangalore… what is it that points to chennai?
then again, the logo of central is the strongest imagery of chennai city.
I like all the logos. Simple and elegant.
Kiruba, I don’t know if its right for me to say this here but as a reader of your blog over the past 4 years, your blog has started to disappoint me now. Earlier you used to write about causes, society and the world but now, over more than an year, I see you only focus on telling us where your next talk would be, where you have been invited and which publication is asking you to write an article for them. Obviously, its your blog and you decide what goes in but as a silent reader of your blog for a long time I just wanted to let you know what I felt.
