The Agony Called the Ergometer Race

As a prelude to the Rowing Championships that start this Saturday, we have the Erg race. It’s otherwise known as the ‘Torture Machine’. An Erg is a rowing simulator machine which is used to build technique and power.

Today is the day when we’ll see extreme pain, agonising grunts, gritted teeth and the killer spirit as people push their physical limits to the very edge. In a few cases, people push so hard that they just black out at the end of the race.
