The Start of the Highway Cycling Expedition

It’s a little past midnigt and in a few hours, a bunch of eight cyclists and one motorbiker, will start on a journey from Bangalore to Chennai. Our aim is to cover the distance of 350 kilometers within two day. We couldn’t be doing this at a better time. It’s the hottest part of the year (Agni Natchatram) and the heat is definitely gonna be sapping. And added to this, we have a rally like deadline to our journey. We have to reach Chennai by Sunday night ‘coz some of the guys have their return tickets booked.

This means, we’ll have to do 10 to 12 hours of nearly continuous cycling to cover 175 kms in a day. And another 10 to 12 hours of nearly continuous cycling the next day. Now, that’s going to be fun!

What’s interesting is that it just took me one hour to reach from Chennai to Bangalore this evening on a flight. Now, I’ll have to spend two full days to do the return journey.
