Sorry For Saddam
For some reason, I felt bad for Saddam after seeing this video. I’m no supporter of him but I can’t help but feel a sense of sympathy for the guy.
In this video, Saddam came across as a strong man. When the guy who puts the noose does the explaining, it’s a surreal feeling to see Saddam listen attentively to the guy and cooperate.
Some observation from the video. That’s a rather long rope. And why didn’t they cover his face with the black cloth as is normally done?
Some may argue that he deserved to die for killing tens of thousands of Iraqis. But aren’t the US Forces doing just that?
The execution isn’t going to do any good. Infact, it’s going to flare up more violence. The cartoon below by Latuff says it all.
Finally, Global Voices has this quote that can’t get any truer.
“Today marks the end of an evil era and the beginning of an even worse one.”
