Reliving the Sinclair Spectrum Days
That’s the exact looking ‘computer’ that my Dad presented me on the first day of my 7th standard annual school holidays. My Dad, of course, had aspirations that it would help turn me into a great computer engineer. It didn’t do that but it did turn me into an avid video gamer.
Recently, as I read reports of the 25th anniversary of the Sinclair Spectrum, it took me back to my childhood days, thinking of the countless hours I spent playing games.
That machine lasted just one length of the annual holidays, though. It died a premature death when I tried connecting an incompatible joystick to it and a sickening puff of smoke came off it.
Premature death maybe but it’ll live in my heart for the rest of my life.
