Come Saraswathi Pooja and the streets of Chennai would be strewn with smashed pumpkins. This sqishy slippery insides of the pumpkin has always been a danger to the two wheeler riders. Its a good thing that the Tamilnadu government has banned the practice of breaking pumpkins in the middle of roads. I was surprised that many had actually respected this dictum this year. Sure, people did break pumpkins but most did so at the road sides. A welcome sight.
