The 100 Day Marathon Preparation

Tomorrow, I begin my practice for the Chennai Marathon. Technically, the marathon is scheduled for February 6th and is 108 days away. But I’m rusty and will need some days to get into running shape.

This time, I’m gunning for a sub-4 hours timing. A modest target but something that I’ll really have to work towards religiously. So, now its back to those early morning runs with the members of Chennai Runners Club in the Anna University campus.

Since, I’ll be in New York next week, my short term goal is to run a half marathon inside Central Park. The weather should be realy pleasant. I hear that the foliage is fantastic in fall and thought what better way to explore the place.

With a spread of 843 acres, finding place to run 21.1 kms shouldn’t be too difficult. Besides, the famous New York Marthon is next month and I’m sure there will be quite a few runners practising. I’m thinking of hooking up with the New York Road Runners Club for the practice run.
