Yesterday, I had been to a traditional function which required people to remove their shoes before entering the mandapam. As one of the guys removed his shoes and socks, the stench was unbearable. You could feel the queasiness in the guy’s face…that touch of embarrassment. The host was in a piquant situation himself and could not say anything to this particular guest…so he made up by spraying room freshener.

It would be a good idea to put the socks straight for washing when we return home in the evening. Wearing a fresh pair of socks in the morning gives a nice sense of confidence. They say a man’s personality can be determined just by looking at his shoes. I’d say, how true.
