Snapshots from the Chennai Marathon

The start of the race at Marina beach. That's how the number tag looks like. I never got to get mine because I checked in late for the registration. Brilliant view as the sun rises on the theosophical road on the way to Besant Nagar. Passing through the Elliots Beach arch. This sign meant I've completed 10kms. 32kms more to go. The Anna Univ running mates. I ran with them for a while. We all ran for SAATHII, an org that fights against AIDS. Lucky to bump into Shyam and his brother. Stupid herbal healthdrink. Advertise but don't offer your drinks. Marathoners need water than anything else. Jacob, all smiles. He was on his second round while I was still on my first. That's me at Beach Road for the second time. Voiceferous support. Pretty girls from Ethiraj college in traditional outfits. Great enthusiasm and support. Their banner. This old man was amazing. His team had whistles and they were blowing some very peppy tune. A guy who fainted. The heat was sapping. The Kenyan who finished first. He finished the race while just about comleted my half marathon distance. 24 done. 18 Kms more to go. That's Ravi, a true friend indeed. He came on his bike and got along refreshments and energy drink. His presence made an amazing difference. My shadow was my companion for a long time. With me running alone, I got the chance to take a self-portrait. The traffic police did a phenomenal job in regulating the traffic. They even did all the work by themselves. Kudos to the unsung heroes. 35 done. 7 Excruciating kms to go. The last few kms was the most difficult. Victory!! The moment I won't forget for the rest of my life. Finishing the marathon at Labour statue, from where the race began. I've done one of the things I wanted to do before I die!
