Google to Wi-Fi enable SanFrancisco for Free. Makes good (Ad) sense
Google Inc. has offered to blanket San Francisco with free wireless Internet access at no cost to the city in an effort to get all residents online whether they are at home, in a park or in a cafe.
Now, let’s look at this ‘FREE’ offer. Google makes 90% of its profits from online advertising. By offering free Wi-Fi, it gets to show its ads on the browsers of anyone who is accessing its service. The same strategy they employed with when they bought Blogger.com. And becuase it is free, Google kills competitors like SBC-Yahoo, Earthlink, Comcast and AOL.
Well, that’s hitting two mangoes with a single stone!
