Raining, Running
The effect of Hurricane Wilma is being felt here in New York City. As predicted by the forecasters, it started raining tonight and looks set to worsen tomorrow. Rain or shine, I’m going ahead with my my practice run at Central Park. At early in the morning, the combination of rain and temperature touching 4 degree centrigrade, should make it quite a challenge. It’ll be interesting to see if there are other crazy people practising too! 🙂
Today morning, I woke up at 5:15 in the morning, showered up and headed off to visit the Staten Island. I took the subway train intending to get down at Whitehall st but ended up in Brooklyn. So grabbed the chance to walk back to Manhattan over the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge. It’s truly an engineering marvel, especially when you get to read about the many difficulties the founders faced in getting it up.
With the New York Marathon less than two weeks away, there were quite a few folks training on the walk path on Brooklyn Bridge. In a way, I was feeling sad. I would be leaving the US just the day before the Marathon day. Running the New York Marathon was on the list of 100 things to do before I die. I would have stretched my visit to accomodate it had I been in NY, but I will be on the west coast then. So, it s a case of so near, yet so far.
