General info for all volunteers
Every week we provide opportunities for volunteers to join us in our pursuit to create a 12 acre green lung. There are many ways to get involved, no matter your age or experience level.
No previous tree planting experience is required. We do the demonstration of “How to Plant a Tree” at the very beginning of each planting event. It is important that you are on time to participate in the demo and receive important directions! Then we break up into small groups of 3-4 people and plant trees.
What to Bring: Dress appropriately!
- Clothing you can afford to get dirty
- Drinking Water
- Rain gear if rain is threatening
- Closed-toed shoes
- Garden gloves
- Hat, sun screen, sunglasses as needed
We plant “Rain or Shine”. Typically we plant in the morning and evenings. Afternoons are spent indoors and in group activites.
Volunteers learn about proper tree planting techniques, proper tree planting practices, pruning techniques and more importantly dirtying your hands and scratching the green itch in you.
